| Thursday 20th August saw the Dawlish Carnival Air Show. In view of the number of people attending FGW decided to operate an intensive service utilising the Class 67s from the Taunton - Cardiff service, (replacing them with a hired in 159, 159009 from SWT) and an HST set. The Class 67s worked Exeter Newton Abbot from 1130 until 2030 apart from one trip which went to Paigton.
The weather forecast was not good, it started the week as full dull and wet and end up as a mixed selection. I made the trip to Shaldon Bridge and because the volume of passengers meant that the dwell time was insufficient got both in sun. Off to the Teign estuary found Hugh Dady and I blown out by an errant cloud. The return was in sun, but it was fun trying to hold still in the strong wind. As the weather appeared to be collapsing back to Exeter I went and promptly got blown out by cloud as the trains were late! If they had been on time further sunny shots would have resulted! Off to Clapperbrook LAne produced a sunny shot of the paignton service, before the final shots were obtained in sun at Cockwood, along wit the early running 6A59. 67005 and 67025 did the honours Enjoy! |
